Although the genre had its heyday 100 years ago, ragtime continues to challenge musicians and intoxicate listeners. Its complex melodies are best suited for piano, but guitar wiz David Laibman has made a career of cleverly adapting the songs of Scott Joplin, James Scott, and Joseph Lamb to guitar. On this 14-track accompaniment to the DVD of the same name, Laibman's bravura left-hand (and not-half-bad right hand) technique grafts the laid-back funk of the original ragtime masters to the fluid sound of modern jazz guitar.
