This Deftones tribute seems more genuine than the Big Eye label's normal spate of fast-cash output, but its versions of material spanning the band's four studio albums can't really shake its workmanlike, studio-musician quality. The nobodies here do a pretty good job with "RX Queen," "Around the Fur," and especially "Back to School (Mini Maggit)" -- they have Chino Moreno's peculiar slur and wheeze down pat, and the instrumentation roars or broods appropriately. Still, there's nothing of real interest here, unless you're some sort of Deftones superfan. It's like a karaoke helper tape for post-grunge cover bands.
