A Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival collects a dozen of the group's definitive songs, as performed by the Travelin' Band, aka a group of session musicians fronted by a vocalist who sounds vaguely like John Fogerty. This wouldn't be an issue if the group's performances didn't sound so slickly generic -- the limp guitar solos on "Around the Bend," the over-produced vocals on "Lookin' Out My Back Door," and the joyless version of "Bad Moon Rising" will annoy longtime CCR fans and confuse new ones. The Travelin' Band manages not to completely ruin "Hey Tonight" and "Susie Q," but that's far from a recommendation for this lukewarm "tribute."
