AllMusic Review by

This LP contains 14 performances from as many English groups with the emphasis being on swing with a touch of Dixieland. Best known is Spike Hughes, trumpeter Nat Gonella (featured on "Georgia on My Mind"), trombonists George Chisholm and trombonist Chris Barber, trumpeter Ken Colyer and pianist George Shearing (heard in an early 1941 solo) but also worth checking out are pianist Fred Elizalde (his "Clarinet Marmalade" is the only selection on this set from the 1920s), George Webb's Dixielanders and trumpeter Alex Welsh; Americans Benny Carter and Danny Polo are also heard leading bands filled with British musicians. This long-out-of-print English LP will be hard to find, but if run across it is worth picking up.
