A Fistful of Rock 'N' Roll, Vol. 7 Review

by Kurt Morris

A Fistful of Rock N' Roll is best understood when one realizes that the creator behind the compilation is also in Electric Frankenstein. Those familiar with the prolific garage rock band may have a better idea of the type of material making an appearance on this 19-song disc. From a cartoonish layout with half-naked women on the cover to the Nashville Pussy meets Motörhead meets biker rock type sound that many of the bands display, it shouldn't take long for listeners to realize what they're getting into. Grisly, gruff rock with a lot of masculine qualities is what can be found by these contributors, many of whom are foreign and unknown. Musically, there are a few exceptions, such as the Donnas, who make their bratty all-girl brand of rock, but, in all, this sounds much like what one might expect coming from one of the members of Electric Frankenstein.
