AllMusic Review by

One of three titles in Time Life's 70's Singer-Songwriters series, 70's Singer-Songwriters: Timeless Songs doesn't really stick to its stated musical format of singer-songwriters -- for example, there's no way the Moody Blues, here with "Nights in White Satin," could fit even the loosest definition of the term -- and, like the other volumes in the series, ends up being simply a collection of good individual moments that may or may not fit the musical style and tone suggested by the disc's title. Other tracks present include Rod Stewart's "Maggie May," J.J. Cale's original version of "After Midnight," Phoebe Snow's "Poetry Man," and Rita Coolidge's cover of Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher."
