At once a little gift for fans and a teaser for This Euphoria, which appeared the following year, 4-Track Manifesto is a great five-song collection, indeed recorded on a home recording set-up as the title indicates. Two cuts from This Euphoria appear -- "Discoball World," keeping all its enjoyable romantic intensity and brisk, poppy kick (likely it's the same recording), and "Floataway," given a lovely performance, mixing fragile synth strings and vocals with an up-front rhythm. As for the other songs, each are worthy examples of Garza's abilities. "The Perfect Tear" starts as a very T. Rex-reminiscent sing and strum-along before slowly turning into a brilliant, blasting rocker at the end. "Another Shot" is a tight little rocker, with good drumming from Chris Searles, who also appears on "Discoball World," while the concluding "Too Much" sounds like a bit of a lost Prince ballad, with soft falsetto vocals and gentle keyboards and drums coming together very well.
