If you want to know what to expect from Hawd Gankstuh Rappuhs MC's Wid Ghatz, just check out the album's back cover, which features a picture of a turd on a turntable. This group of young white rappers could be easy to mock, except they beat us to the punch by mocking themselves. A superficial glance at the trio of Duke Crapmore, Flybot Van Damn, and Guy Albino would leave most people with the impression that they are some sort of hybrid of the Beastie Boys and Eminem, but their bizarre take on hip-hop really owes more to the sly, self-referential humour of artists like Prince Paul. When they diss other rappers, they not only mock their peers, but the entire convention of dissing in hip-hop. Unfortunately, Hawd Gangster Rappuh's attitude, which is just about the only thing they have going for them, is not enough to sustain interest over an entire album. After all, man cannot live on turd jokes alone.
