K-Tel's Super 20's Series is sure to frustrate and annoy music lovers unfortunate enough to cross paths with any of the discs included. The reason why is simple enough. They include re-recorded versions of the original hits. On Super 20's Series: 60's Rock & Roll, Vol. 2, you get the original versions of great songs like the Exciters' "Tell Him" and the Beach Boys' "Surfer Girl" back to back with pretty bad remakes of the originals (like Joey Dee's creaky "Peppermint Twist" and Charlie Rich's "Lonely Weekends"). For some reason this entry in the series has a higher ratio of originals to remakes, which certainly begs the question of why include remakes at all. Regardless, any collection that includes even a single re-recording is not worth the time or interest of music fans who are remotely serious about their listening.
