Simon Jurad, singer and guitarist, has been an influential figure on the Martiniquan music scene for many years. He has been instrumental in advancing the careers of many musicians from his native island. This album, though very short in length, is a classic and was released in the middle of zouk's prime decade. Jurad is a skillful songwriter and here he has produced some enduring work. There is no filler on this album. He is joined by Aurlus Mabele and Diblo Dibala from the Congo on a fiery soukous-inflected track that is way too short. "Mama" is finely distilled zouk at its hip-swaying best. The vibes were very strong in zouk circles at the time of this recording and Jurad advanced the cause. Top-notch zouk from one its most famous artists. Highly recommended.
