No one has heard Keith Morris so manic, so absolutely, desperately insane since he sang "I'm going to explode/I've had it!" or "Fix me, fix my head/Fix me, please/I don't wanna be dead" so madly that you wanted to drive the poor bugger to the UCLA psych ward Iggy Pop frequented three years prior. And like side B of Black Flag's Nervous Breakdown EP, these four songs clock in at one minute each, as if Morris and mates might disintegrate in a heap of heart palpitations if they had to maintain warp-drive hurling like "Darkness" and "Don’t Belong" longer. Interestingly, bassist Steven McDonald is among the few who saw Black Flag's Morris era; his preteen band Red Cross supported them. (Red Cross drummer Ron Reyes would succeed Morris on vocals, after Red Cross guitarist Greg Hetson quit to start Circle Jerks with Morris.) And with Mario Rubalcaba of Rocket from the Crypt/Hot Snakes on drums, the EP hits as hard as he does. These mere 255 seconds will turn every head in any room with their off-the-charts, visceral impact.
