Sometime in the mid-1950's pianist Lan O'Kun thought it would be fun to invite 12 of his favorite pianists to appear on his record to play one of his originals apiece. Each player was accompanied either by a big band, a string section or a trombone quartet with rhythm. This long out-of-print album has such pianists as Dick Hyman, Hank Jones, Billy Taylor, Mary Lou Williams, Lou Stein, Teddy Wilson, Bobby Scott, Ellis Larkins, Marion McPartland, Johnny Guarnieri, Cy Walter, Stan Freeman and Lan O'Kun himself. Actually the title of this record is a major exaggeration for none of the compositions are "classics" although many of the pianists are classic players. The music is reasonably pleasing but not all that memorable or essential. A historical curiosity.
