Russian-born and Israel-bred trio Rabies Caste revels in all things twisted; indicative of this is the video for "Got It From Blake," a hodge-podge of suicides, murders, and other nastiness that wouldn't be out of place in a Faces of Death horror-documentary. Fortunately, the trio offer more than gore alone on its second disc, serving up grinding sludge that reminds of the Melvins if they were a metal band, or labelmates Godflesh if they ditched the mechanical percussion. Vocalist David K. is an acquired taste, with a monotone, electronic-enhanced dull screech throughout Let the Soul Out and Cut the Vein, but the grungy violence beneath his screams is admirable in its relative ingenuity, even if it gets a bit redundant by record's end.
