Barbershop Quartet

So named in honor of the age-old custom of men in barbershops forming quartets for impromptu renditions of sentimental songs, Barbershop Quartet has come to define an entire style of unaccompanied group vocal, typified by the foursome's performances of popular songs in highly conventionalized close harmony.
