One of the best-known tunes of the jazz era started life as a vocal written by Italy's favorite son, Louis Prima, as "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)." But its best-known version is the rendition by Benny Goodman and His Orchestra which elevated the song to that of a swing music classic. Largely a showcase for drummer Gene Krupa's explosive tom tom work, the tune in its live performance also featured exceptional soloing from Goodman and pianist Jess Stacy. With the 1990s swing music revival, the tune has gained a new life being recycled in one TV commercial after another, appearing in the soundtracks to several contemporary films as well as becoming a staple of all retro swing bands' set lists.
