Never in My Life

Song Review by

In the tradition of their huge hit "Mississippi Queen," "Never in My Life" is a virtual Cream homage, complete with some liquid, bluesy guitar lines from Leslie West. A great descending bass and guitar pattern leads the melody, giving the song a tough edge. A lust song rather than a love song, it captures rock & roll at its most dirty, non-romantic best. One of the highlights of the performance is West's powerful vocal shouts, which shows him to be an under-recognized purveyor of blue-eyed soul.
