I've Been Waiting for You

Composed by Neil Young

Song Review by

One of the most powerful and well-crafted songs from Neil Young's self-titled solo debut, "I've Been Waiting for You" works on several different levels. A very strong and engaging melody is set against a striking, descending guitar riff, which serves as the song's hook. Lyrically, like many of the songs on this album, it shows Young as a vulnerable man in the throes of a new and arresting romance. It's one of the strongest songs on the album and would have easily fit in the live repertoire of Crazy Horse or CSN&Y, yet was never attempted as such.
