Song Review by

Pre-stardom Freddie Jackson was a member of the Laurence Jones Ensemble headed by Paul Laurence. The group's manager, Sonny Moore, began a songwriting partnership with Keith Washington (later of "Missing You" fame). The two wrote "Hey Lover" while on vacation in Charlotte, NC. Later, Moore sent the song to Laurence, who was looking for songs for Jackson's next album. Taken from his gold Don't Let Love Slip Away album, "Hey Lover" went to number one R&B in late 1988.
