In sticking with the theme of their second album, The Revival, Tony! Toni! Toné! came up with "Feels Good," which they described as "Baptist shout music that makes you wanna dance." They incorporated a popular sample from James Brown's "Funky Drummer" and, continuing with the song's churchy theme, the last part sounds like a Sunday morning testimonial. Co-written by the trio and Carl Wheeler, the track must have felt good to a lot of folks because "Feels Good" sold more than a million copies, holding down the R&B top spot for two weeks, going to number nine pop in the fall of 1990.The Revival went platinum and also yielded "The Blues," "It Never Rains in Southern California," and "Whatever You Want."
