Eddie Cochran

Cut Across Shorty

Song Review by

From Eddie Cochran's final recording session before his untimely death, "Cut Across Shorty" is a classic country story/song. The lyrics themselves are about a race between two rival lovers in a journey across the county. Musically, it was a bit of a departure for Cochran, although his country roots were indeed always evident. Rod Stewart took the song into the rock consciousness of the 1970s with his fine version from his second album.
