As expected, Cattle Decapitation delivered once again. From the sinister intro of "Terrasitic Adaptation", to the emotional conclusion of "Just Another Body", the album is drenched with atmospheric passages, groovy riffing, and memorable melodies.
The band members themselves give some of their best performances to date. Josh Elmore is infusing some ambient elements into his usual frantic guitar playing. Dave McGraw gets in quite a lot of genuinely mind-blowing drum parts. And this is possibly Travis Ryan's best vocal work yet!
It is, unfortunately, not without its faults. The album seems somewhat bloated in some areas and could be cut down a bit here and there. Not that longer tracks aren't welcome, "The Storm Upstairs" and "Just Another Body" are phenomenal the way they are and, ironically, make me wish they were even longer.
Still, this is without a doubt another great outing by Cattle Decapitation. Is it better than "Death Atlas" or "Monolith of Inhumanity"? I believe not. However, it still has the potential to grow even further on me.
Favorite Tracks: "We Eat Our Young", "Scourge of the Offspring", "The Storm Upstairs", "...and the World Will Go On Without You", "Solastalgia", "Just Another Body".
