This is the 100th and last album of a thread of album reviews in which I'd like to guide you through my personal musical history based on my top100 Album list you can find in my profile: the previous album in the thread was "X&Y" by Coldplay.
The years after 2010 or even after 2000 haven't provided a Large nummer of great albums or even great new artist certainly not in the mainstream rock arena (except maybe for War on Drugs).
I suppose this had something to do with the new ways of distributing music which leaves not a lot of income for artists. performing still makers money but iT is expensive and artists who can draw big Crowded are gradually dying out.
However in the more alternative arena, there are still a large nummer of good bands emerging like Titus Andronicus, Fucked Up and this Yuck; the common denominator of these bands seem to Be growling voices and guitars but still music with a melody.
There are some fairly long tracks on this debut album by Yuck but my favorite is "Holing Out" which is a bit shorter.
So this ends this album top 100 which certainly doesn't container all my favorite albums an artists, so here are my apologies to the Stones, Jimi, the Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ELO, Bruce Springsteen, The Police, Steve Wynn, Belle and Sebastian and many many others.
This is the 99th album of a thread of album reviews in which I'd like to guide you through my personal musical history based on my top100 Album list you can find in my profile: the previous album in the thread was "Funeral" by Arcade Fire.
I suppose there aren't any big stadium rock live bands any more, but together with the Foo Fighters this is still one. Although Coldplay is a bit on the edge of cheesy and although their songs are not all very original, they are able to issue some great stuff.
I first saw them live on the Pukkelpop festival in Hasselt in 2000 when they had just issued "Parachutes", a good but not great album. Already there Chris Martin was telling the audience that his band would once be the greatest in the world which at that time seemed difficult to believe but was maybe very true.
However they issued some great albums like "A Rush of Blood to the Head" (I remember being completely surprised when I first heard "Clocks") and this album "X&Y" which features their best song "Fix You".
There is one song on this album which belongs to my favorite songs top 1000 and 5 more on other albums:
- Fix You (this album)
- God Put a Smile upon your Face (A Rush of Blood to the Head)
- The Scientist (A Rush of Blood to the Head)
- Clocks (A Rush of Blood to the Head)
- Viva La Vida (Viva La Vida or Death and all his Friends)
- Lost? (Viva La Vida or Death and all his Friends)
Next and last album in this thread: "Yuck" by Yuck.
