Bansuri
The bansuri is a bamboo flute originating in South Asia and containing six (2.5 octaves) or seven (3 octaves) finger holes. Varieties of the bansuri may be played transverse (held horizontally and blown across like a flute) or fipple (held and played like a recorder or pennywhistle). The instrument is often assocciated with being played by Krishna in Indian traditional tales and paintings.
