Wired Up! Crammed with electrifying images along with essays about and by the artists of the era, Wired Up! is one of our favorite new books, and it made an appearance in our Gift Guide over the holiday season. Subtitled Glam, Proto Punk, and Bubblegum European Picture Sleeves 1970-1976, the book chronicles the 1970s underground European glam rock scene, cataloging hundreds of 45 sleeves from marquee names (Suzi Quatro) and lesser-known artists who cratediggers crave (Floating Opera). With firsthand accounts from folks who were there, like Jesse Hector of the Hammersmith Gorilas -- and help from collectors, like the Jesus & Mary Chain's Phil Kin -- Wired Up! shows how the sleeve could be as important as the sound, and sheds light on one of rock 'n' roll's more outrageous outings.
