Veteran folk musician Richard Shindell ponders matters large and small with "Satellites," a track from his upcoming album, Careless. Shindell's clear, confident voice paints snapshots based on views of events at ground level and from high above, and does his best to reconcile the differences in scale.

"Street protests are a common occurrence in Buenos Aires, my current home," Shindell wrote. "'Satellites' imagines the intersection and confrontation of the local and the global, along with issues of sovereignty, economic disparity, politics and the effects of global interconnectedness.”

Careless is due out on September 9.

Careless can be ordered here.
