Song Premiere: Peter Matthew Bauer, "Wild Light"

With the Walkmen on hiatus since 2014, bassist Peter Matthew Bauer has wasted no time, delivering Liberation! that year, and preparing the forthcoming follow-up, Mount Qaf (Divine Love). The pounding "Wild Light" kicks off the new record, building its increasingly relentless stomp across the track's four minutes, while Bauer finds himself more and more concerned with the world's chaos.
"It's about apocalyptic moments and how they all seem to arise from this hidden aliveness, this kind of strange electricity that people are always chasing," Bauer wrote of the track. "Music-wise, it came out of this open tuning I discovered playing solo shows to make a solo guitar sound really big by itself. I started writing a lot of this new record using that tuning and adding a band around it."
Mount Qaf is due out November 10 via Fortune Tellers/Kobalt.
