Song Premiere: Eddie Palmieri, "Vamonos Pa'l Monte" (Big Band Extended Version)

On his upcoming album, Full Circle, Latin jazz icon Eddie Palmieri revisits a handful of his earlier songs and mixes things up with new solos, new arrangements, and new players. One of the tracks is an extended version of his 1971 classic "Vamonos Pa'l Monte" -- a song you've definitely heard, even if the name doesn't ring a bell -- which features Palmieri's frequent collaborator, trumpet master Brian Lynch. The two artists won a Grammy for their 2006 collaboration, Simpático, and that chemistry continues with Lynch's bright, punchy horn work offering a sharp counterpoint to Palmieri's unpredictable, mesmerizing piano-playing.
