Song Premiere: Birds of Chicago, "Never Go Back"

"Never Go Back" comes from Love in Wartime, the upcoming LP from husband and wife duo Birds of Chicago. Back in 2016, editor Timothy Monger hailed the band's album Real Midnight for the depth of its songs and its "understated, subtly built mood pieces." "Never Go Back" takes a somewhat different tactic; quick and to the point, the track gets down to business with jaunty guitar line and vocal interplay between JT Nero and Allison Russell, capped by Russell's spoken-word bridge, delivered in French. Love in Wartime is due out on May 4.
