New Classical Reviews, May 2016

By AllMusic Staff

Jun. 1, 2016

AllMusic's classical reviewers found several things this past month that might appeal to those of you who appreciate things gathered and wrapped up neatly in one package. There's a set of Beethoven's symphonies led by Sir Simon Rattle; Nielsen's symphonies led by Paavo Järvi; the nocturnes of John Field played by Elizabeth Joy Roe; all of Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance marches played by the Hallé Orchestra; and David Aaron Carpenter performing Vivaldi's and Piazzolla's Four Seasons, plus a new set by Alexey Shor. More new music by composers such as Christopher Rouse, Hans Abrahamsen, Jennifer Higdon, and Nico Muhly was also found among recent releases.
