Several of the past month's best releases were not exactly your typical classical music fare. One was the married duo, Richard and Mika Stoltzman, together and in solo works for their respective instruments, clarinet and marimba. Another was the major label debut of conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, leading the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the music of Mieczyslaw Weinberg, who is a composer still being re-discovered by audiences. There is also cycle of short piano pieces of Reynaldo Hahn, Le Rossignol éperdu, rarely heard in its entirety and evocatively performed by Yoonie Han.
