Once again, our reviewers heard quite a variety of music this past month, so everyone from lovers of grand opera to those favoring intimate chamber music will find something worth trying. Prolific conductor Sir Mark Elder takes on Wagner's Parsifal, while pianist David Fray surveys the music of Chopin. The Monteverdi anniversary celebrations continue with Robert Hollingworth and I Fagiolini assembling The Other Vespers from Monteverdi's motets and music by his contemporaries. The recent death of famed Czech conductor Jiří Bělohlávek adds a layer of significance to Dvorák's Stabat Mater, one of his last recordings.
