New Orleans jazz piano legend James Booker is the subject of a new documentary, Bayou Maharajah. He displays his tremendous skills as he storms through the classic Cuban song "Malaguena" in this exclusive clip, followed by a glowing commendation from actor and musician Hugh Laurie,

Booker became a standout member of the New Orleans music scene in the 50s and 60s, boasting a flamboyant stage presence and virtually incomparable piano style that blended elements of jazz, blues, gospel and boogie woogie. He delivered top-tier albums like Junco Partner, King of the New Orleans Keyboard, andClassified, the latter released just a year before his 1983 death.

Bayou Maharajah pulls back the curtains on the "Piano Prince of New Orleans," with remembrances and tributes from Harry Connick, Jr., Dr. John, the late Allen Toussaint and more. It can be seen on iTunes.
