Making giddy, punky indie dance music since 2004, it seemed only a matter of time until
Matt and Kim released a remix album. Sure enough, their next release is a
remixed version of their 2012 album,
Lightning -- and you can listen to it with us before it's released Tuesday!
As Tim Sendra notes, the duo's hyperactive sound "seems perfectly suited to be turned into club bangers" -- and you can find that on
Lightning Remixes, from a "happy hardcore explosion of sound and glitter" ("Let's Go" remixed by Stefan Dabruck), to a "drum-heavy dubstep blowout" ("It's Alright" remixed by Salva). Meanwhile, other artists take a different approach, like Anamanaguchi's "rampaging blast of video game metal" ("Overexposed") and a "truly dubby" turn by Federation Sound ("Tonight"). Together, it's a fun new way to hear Matt and Kim's music, and a welcome companion to hold fans over until the next proper album.
