Album Premiere: Mirah, 'Understanding'

​Understanding, the upcoming album from indie singer/songwriter Mirah, is a commanding and confident collection of songs that blends the confessional with the celebratory. Much more shimmering and robust than earlier lo-fi albums like the much-lauded Advisory Committe, Understanding doesn't shy away from layered vocals, synthesizer flourishes, and big crescendos on songs like "Hot Hot" and climactic album-closer "Energy." Understanding is due out September 7 on Absolute Magnitude, and Mirah has tour dates booked through October.
