The ever-shifting Portland ensemble Loch Lomond, known for its layered compositions, builds its sound even further by incorporating drum machines and synthesizers on its new album, Pens From Spain. One song may feature horn and organ ("Be Mine & Be Kind") while the next might be based around piano, xylophone, dulcimer and wordless vocals ("Holland"). Pens From Spain is due out September 2 on Hush Records.

Pens From Spain can be ordered here.
