Album Premiere: Jamie McDell, 'Extraordinary Girl'

Extraordinary Girl, the latest album from singer/songwriter Jamie McDell, features a dozen tracks of rootsy country and Americana as filtered through a New Zealand lens​. Showcasing more richness and density than the typical banjo and fiddle exercise, the album contains waves of haunting tremolo guitar ("Under the Bonnet"), fuzzy squalls and heavy distortion ("3AM," "Bad Attitude"), and a keen sense for crafting rewarding, sometimes even dramatic, vocal melodies.

Self-released in her home country last year, Extraordinary Girl is getting a full international release on May 10 and is available for preorder.
