Reckless Skyline, the third album from Vermont-based singer/songwriter Caitlin Canty, manages to combine elements of folk, blues, country and rock without sounding unfocused. From fuzz-enhanced songs like "One Man" and "Enough About Hard Times" to sparse, hypnotic songs like "Wore Your Ring" and a take on
Neil Young's "Unknown Legend" from his
Harvest Moon album. And there's no lack of experience in her backing band, which features past and present members of
Morphine,
the Pretenders, and
Levon Helm and
Booker T. Jones' bands.
