William Taylor

Trumpeter William Taylor was present when maestro Isaac Hayes smeared hot buttered soul all over the stage at the Sahara Tahoe, an event commemorated by a messy live album originally released in 1973. Taylor is also present on the Groove-A-Thon marathon from 1976 and of course can be studied on all manner of Hayes reissue packages. Although Taylor also played on some of Jerry Lee Lewis' Mercury sides, and Lewis did a cover of at least one Hayes tune, the trumpeter should still not be confused with the songwriter and performer Bill Taylor, sometimes referred to as William, who contributed many numbers to the Lewis songbook.
