Blending smooth production with a pastiche of classic influences, Atlanta-based R&B singer/songwriter Votte Hall honed his style over the course of several independently released projects after spending time behind the scenes in the music industry.
Before branching out into a solo music career, Hall worked as an intern at various record labels and studios before interning for a record label executive. Around 2011 he began working in earnest on his own music, issuing early single "Down" in 2012. He followed with 2015 EP I Fux with Me, and in 2017 issued second EP In My Own Lane. The four songs of In My Own Lane highlighted a more retro-fitted vocal style, leaning on the influence of soul heroes like Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder. The next year Hall released a party-minded single and video, "Kiss on Me," which became his most visible track up to that point.
