Playing together in the East Bay scene of San Francisco since 1997, Mike, Matt, Drew, Darren, and Todd brought on their sense of melodic hardcore with the outfit Towards an End. In comparison to the likes of Monsula, Hot Water Music, Fuel and Fugazi, Lookout Records liked what they heard and released their debut EP Change And Pass Through in 1999.
