Along with Shox, the Fast Set, and Bauhaus, the Bearz released the only Axis singles in early 1980. Another label called Axis soon found out about the releases, forcing the newer imprint to rename itself. The label became 4AD. The Bearz' single was called She's My Girl, which featured vocalist/keyboardist John Goddard, bassist/guitarist David Gunstone, keyboardist David Lord, and drummer Mark Willis. The band eventually broke up, with Lord becoming a studio associate for the likes of XTC, Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel, and Echo and the Bunnymen. Willis remained active as a producer (the Bellefleurs) and performer (who played with Dr. Feelgood's Gypie Mayo).
