Best known for her part as Shelly Webster, the titular character's murdered girlfriend on the infamous big-screen adaptation of The Crow, Canadian Sofia Shinas first tried her hand at showbiz by pursuing a music career, signing a contract with Warner Bros. in 1992. Her first single, "The Message," became a sizable dance hit and managed a minor pop crossover in the U.S. However, second single "State of Mind" only registered on the dance charts, while the third and final one, "One Last Kiss," did become a minor hit in her native country, but sank without a trace below the border. By the time her self-titled debut album arrived in spring of 1993, it was pretty much pronounced DOA, effectively leaving the door open for a relatively more notable acting career.
