Artist Biography by

Sloth was formed in 1999 from the remnants of cult doom metal bands Godzilla and Mourn, and featured singer Gaz Ricketts, guitarist Roland Scriver, bassist Will Palmer, and drummer Vince Scriver. After making its live debut opening for Spirit Caravan at the Marquee Club, the quartet inevitably signed with Lee Dorrian's doom-specialized Rise Above label, and entered Backstage Studios in mid-2000 to prepare its ominously titled first album, The Voice of God, with Orange Goblin producer Dave Chang. When they eventually emerged, the seven-track colossus they'd recorded more than did their name justice, boasting some of the slowest dirges and lowest tunings within the human hearing spectrum.
