Slagmaur was initially conceived as a solo project charged with the task of breathing new life into that most dark of the metal genres, "true" Norwegian black metal. Birthed in 2006 by leader, guitarist, and bassist General Gribbsphiiser, the project took on a new feel -- that is to say new members -- within months, as the General was joined by vocalist (and adversary) Aatselgribb and drummer Lt. Wardr. The group spent the majority of 2006 recording the demos Svin (it was at this point in the process that Slagmaur became a trio) and Skrekk. In 2007 Slagmaur released (along with demo number three, Domfeldt) their first two albums, Svin and Skrekk Lich Kunstler.
