The multinational Sitkovetsky Trio began performing at top venues around the world soon after its formation. On recordings, the group has been associated with the BIS label. When the trio formed in 2007, its members were students at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Britain. For some years, the group consisted of violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, and pianist Wu Qian; in 2019, cellist Isang Enders replaced Elschenbroich. The young trio snared a Junior Fellowship at London's Royal Academy of Music from 2008 to 2010, and that, plus honors such as the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award in 2008 and the NORDMETALL Chamber Music Award at the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival the following year, quickly propelled their career to world-class status in the early 2010s.
