Unlike his sometime duo partner Mark Small, classical guitarist Robert Torres knew he wanted to play classical music for most of his youth. Although he enjoyed mimicking John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot and James Taylor, he was more inspired by the classical Spanish stylings of the Romero Family. Torres sought and received instruction early under the tutelage of a USC instructor. From there, he studied music at California State University, Fullerton and the Boston Concervatory of Music, respectively. He earned awards in the American String Teacher's Association solo competition and the Guitar Foundation of America duo competition. In addition to his established solo skills, he has performed as half of the Small-Torres Guitar Duo with Mark Small. He has performed a range of classical music, including a selection of inspirational works inspired by popular hymns. Torres lives in Boston, MA.
