Rick Neufeld studied architecture at the University of Manitoba but later decided to pursue a career in music. After playing coffeehouses around Canada and the U.S., he got his own TV show, The Songsingers, on the Canadian CBC network. Hiway Child, his first album, appeared in 1971. Two albums followed: Prairie Dog in 1975 and Manitoba Songs three years later.
