The compositions of this Netherlands musician were comprised primarily of secular chansons and sacred lamentations and motets. Problematically his works are difficult to catalogue as there was another composer with a similar name writing at the same time. Characteristic differences of the music have probably not been scrutinized enough to clarify the needed distinctions. As a teacher De Latre had students including Magnon and de Villers. Intonations and melodies favor textual accentuation and his melodies were soft, maleable and favored the imitative style.
