Clarinetist Peter Cigleris is active in far-flung places as a soloist and chamber player. He has performed with both modern and historically oriented orchestral ensembles.

Cigleris was born in Birmingham, England, and attended the Birmingham Conservatoire there, graduating in 2001. As a student, he won the school's John Ireland Chamber Music Award. Cigleris went on to the Royal College of Music for another year of study, and in 2002, he performed for the Queen of Denmark at a private reception. Cigleris earned a Jerwood Foundation Scholarship for Young Players, associated with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and he also was seen on BBC television performing as a member of conductor John Eliot Gardiner's Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique in the drama Eroica. He has been, at various times, a member of the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. A former principal clarinetist with the Symphony Orchestra of India, Cigleris has performed not only around the U.K. but also in many other countries. He gave the Mexican premiere of Malcolm Arnold's Clarinet Concerto No. 2. As an active chamber player, Cigleris has performed with pianists Martin Cousin and John Lenehan and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. He is often in demand as a session musician.

Cigleris has made several recordings beginning with English Fantasy, released in 2013 on the Cala label. In 2021, he returned to Cala, by then an imprint of Signum Classics, joining the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on Rediscovered: British Clarinet Concertos by Dolmetsch, Maconchy, Spain-Dunk, Wishart. He has also been heard on recordings on the Toccata Classics and Heritage labels. Cigleris' activities as an educator have been varied and have included a master class at the University of New Hampshire, where he also worked with high school clarinetists and the local Seacoast Wind Ensemble.
