German-born guitar virtuoso Peter Bursch was born in Duisburg in April of 1949. In 1968, after years of instruction and recitals all across the world, he formed the German rock outfit Bröselmaschine (whose debut was released in 1971), which had a sound more similar to Fairport Convention and would garner critical praise during its heyday, helping to establish the foundation for Krautrock. Bursch would continue to pursue the more academic aspects of his guitar over the years, becoming a guitar tutor, directing numerous seminars, a music journalist, and being responsible for the promotion of the genre on German television. In 1995, Bursch created his own music school, and in 2004 developed a special edition guitar with Martin Guitars. In 2005, he maintained his schedule, teaching guitar both by lecture and DVD/book, as well as solo appearances at numerous guitar festivals.
